An amazing completely ecological city
Please see
and our previous newsletter from last year

Masdar City (Arabic: مدينة مصدر‎, Madīnat Maṣdar) is an ecological town in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates ; the city relies on solar energy and other renewable energy sources.
Masdar City will host the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Some key features :

  • The city banned automobiles
  • The transportation is done by automated electric-powered vehicles
  • The city hosts the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology
  • 0% CO2 emission (all energy is contamination free, mainly powered by solar panels)
  • 1 % garbage production
  • The city is build with ethic social concern for the workers

3. The 7 Petals Campus 3000 project

This is a beautiful project planned to be done in the UAE and hopefully launch at the Expo 2020. Expo 2020 is a Universal scale Registered Exhibition that will be held in Dubai in 2020.
The World Expo in Dubai in 2020 will be the first to be held in the MENA & SA (Middle East and North Africa & South Asia) region. The Dubai Sheikh promised Dubai would "astonish the world" in 2020.

The 7 Petals Campus 3000 consists of a Pedagogical Exhibition Park presenting the latest paradigms of a new holistic Education in a pleasant way, coupled with an International University and Campus along with a Research Centre.

The Campus 3000 is laid out in the form of a Seven Petals Flower. Each petal is designed to develop a specific pedagogical area of learning tools. It includes:

  • Physical Development, preventive Health and “new cooperative sports” (NCS)
  • Sciences and articulated contextualized fun pedagogical cognitive tools based on the latest neurological researches
  • Social life, Emotional Intelligence, multicultural approach and Peace Culture
  • Art, bio-architecture and Universal Geometry
  • Ecology and new energies approach
  • Applied Sciences and hands on pedagogical activities
  • Inner development.
  • The petals or pedagogical areas are organized by colour: bleu, yellow, pinks, white, green, red and purple respectively. In the Centre of the Campus 3000, a beautiful structure will serve as a meeting and events Centre. The shape of this unique building is a dodecahedron with a frame in the form of an icosahedron.

    4. Practical ideas from the UAE

    IB school (International Baccalaureate)

Meeting with teachers from the IB school in Abu Dhabi.

IB stands for International Baccalaureate. There are almost 4000 IB Schools around the world. Please see the picture of the school in the bulletin en español

    The main features are:

    • Classes based on projects
    • Thinking, questioning and self-taught knowledge and comprehension are enhanced
    • Sports
    • Community service is promoted.

The International Baccalaureate, formerly known as The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is an international educational foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland founded in 1968.

    Three fundamental concepts

    • Holistic learning
    • Intercultural awareness
    • Communication

    Five areas of interaction

    • Approaches to learning
    • Community and service
    • Human ingenuity
    • Health and social education
    • Environments

    Six transdisciplinary themes

    • Who we are
    • Where we are in place and time
    • How we express ourselves
    • How the world works
    • How we organise ourselves
    • Sharing the planet

    Community Service
In IB schools around the word (France, Peru, Argentina, Brazil...), Community Service linked with the education process inside the school is encouraged.

Mixing therapeutic tools in Education and inner development
A holistic Education should include preventive health, know and listen to one’s body and health issues. These themes should be taught in school from early age along with therapeutical techniques, such as digipunture, Jin Shin Jyutsu, self Reiki, ayurvedic tools, flower therapies...

Grounding exercises should be the priority. It includes brain gym, gardening, dances with rhythm, clay activities (pottery), walking barefoot, etc. Actually, in the IB school of Abu Dhabi, there is a day of the week called “the day without shoes” and children are allowed to walk barefoot on grass and “earth” surface.

    The right environment for school
The best, when possible, is to get a school that is designed with basic Feng Shui, Universal Geometry, the right scale and proportions (like the Golden Proportion), as well as colour, shapes light and gardens.

    “Education can’t be imported”
Education needs to recognize the roots of each place.

What I see everywhere is that “Education cannot be imported”. Even though we have all around common values (like Peace Culture, nurturing love, communication abilities, ethic...), when it comes to implementing it, it is the responsibility of each country to co-built, co-create, co-implement an education that attends to the needs of that particular people, based on deep roots, honouring the past, history and the rich weaving of traditions and senses of “belonging”. That way we have enthusiasm and our “own energy” in each place, and strong roots that enable us to project the future with a strong and ample vision, and at the same time to feel grounded and live the present at its fullest, with self-esteem, well being and happiness.
